What to Expect From Your First Lagree Class in Porto and Aveiro

Trying something new can feel exciting, but also slightly intimidating.

If you have been considering Lagree, you have likely asked yourself a few questions before booking your first class.

What should I expect from a Lagree class?

Is Lagree too difficult for beginners?

Will I be able to keep up?

All of these are completely normal.

And the truth is, your first Lagree class may feel a little overwhelming at first. It is a new method, a new way of training, and even the names of the exercises will be unfamiliar.

But it is also an experience that will immediately show you how different this method is, and why it has the power to transform the body in a way few other workouts can.

Yes, it can feel challenging. Yes, it can feel unfamiliar. But it is also incredibly effective, and for many clients, that difference is felt from the very first class.

Your first Lagree class: what it really feels like

Your first class at Forma Fitness Studio in Porto or Aveiro is designed to introduce you to the method in a structured and supportive way.

At the same time, it is important to know that Lagree is different from most workouts you may have tried before.

There are no pauses between exercises. We move continuously from one movement to the next, and the instructor will begin explaining the next transition while you are still performing the current exercise.

For new clients, this can feel intense. A high-intensity workout like Lagree is something your body builds endurance for over time.

You are always encouraged to take pauses when needed, even if the class itself continues moving. Listening to your body is part of the process.

At first, it can feel like a lot to take in.

But very quickly, your body begins to understand the rhythm of the class. With each session, everything becomes more familiar, more fluid, and more intuitive.

You are not expected to get everything right in your first class. You are simply there to experience it.

Arriving for your first class

All new clients are asked to arrive 20 minutes before their first class.

This time is essential.

Your instructor will take you through the Megaformer, explaining how the machine works, how to change the springs, and how the class will be structured.

They will also ask about any injuries or physical concerns so they can offer appropriate modifications and ensure that you feel safe and supported throughout the session.

We do not allow late arrivals for first-time clients, so planning ahead is important to make the most of this introduction.

Understanding the Megaformer

For many first-time clients, the Megaformer looks unfamiliar.

That is completely normal.

The machine is designed to create constant tension through spring resistance, allowing for a workout that is both low impact and highly effective.

During your introduction, you will learn how to position yourself, how the springs work, and how to move with control.

Once the class begins, the focus shifts to staying present and following the guidance of the instructor.

How a Lagree class is structured

Each Lagree class at Forma follows a thoughtful and intentional flow.

The class typically begins with core-focused exercises to activate and stabilise the body.

From there, you move into lower body work, followed by obliques and upper body training.

The session finishes with a plank sequence, and then a short moment of stillness with a child’s pose and light stretching to allow the body to decompress.

Throughout the class, the emphasis remains on slow, controlled movement and continuous tension.

A more immersive training experience

At Forma Fitness Studio, all classes are performed using headphones.

This creates a more focused and immersive environment.

The instructor’s voice and the music come directly through the headphones, allowing you to stay fully connected to the rhythm of the class without distraction.

It becomes a deeply personal experience, even within a group setting.

Hands-on guidance and corrections

Instructors at Forma provide hands-on corrections to help improve alignment, deepen the work, and ensure that each movement is performed safely and effectively.

If you prefer not to receive physical corrections, you are always welcome to let your instructor know before the class begins.

What to wear and bring

For your first class, wear comfortable, form-fitting activewear that allows you to move freely.

Grip socks are required for all classes. They are important not only for stability and safety on the Megaformer, but also for hygiene.

It is also recommended to bring a water bottle, as the workout can be intense and you may sweat more than expected. Water refill stations are available in the studio if needed.

Is Lagree suitable for beginners

Yes. Lagree is designed to be accessible to all levels.

While the method is challenging, it is also highly adaptable. Throughout the class, instructors will offer options to increase or decrease the intensity of each exercise.

Clients are encouraged to listen carefully to these options and choose what feels most appropriate for their body in that moment.

Your first class is not about performance. It is about learning, exploring, and beginning to understand the method.

Because it is a new way of training, it can take a few classes to start feeling comfortable and confident.

For this reason, we always recommend trying more than one class before deciding if Lagree is the right fit for you. At Forma, the new client experience is designed as a 14-day period, allowing you to take multiple classes and truly experience the method before committing to a membership.

Is Lagree harder than Pilates

Lagree is often compared to Pilates, but the experience is different.

While both methods focus on control and core engagement, Lagree places a greater emphasis on strength, endurance, and continuous muscular tension.

Many clients come from Pilates looking for more intensity and more visible results. Lagree offers that next step.
